Abstract

Bangladesh is a young nation in an ancient land. A flourishing entrepot in trade and commerce between South Asia and the Far East, Bangladesh has been famed as a land of plenty since ancient times. In 1757, when the British conquest of India began in Bengal, Bengal was already known for the manufacturing of fine fabrics and other products. The Bengalis made a significant contribution in the fields of entrepreneurship, learning, art, and culture.
