Abstract

I have found that to be able to do proper justice to the theory and practice of patenting, a minimum of three hours' dissertation is required. My voice, like your interest, would meet a nasty end long, long before that time had elapsed. Consequently, I propose to spend a few minutes providing a rough pencil outline of patent philosophy and then sketch in a little more detail the area where the patent expert and the information retrieval expert need to co‐operate.
