Abstract

The Central Library of Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL), with over 2 million cataloged books, subscriptions to over 6,500 periodicals, and countless uncataloged items, is a major information resource in southern California. Two subject departments in particular—Business and Economics and Science and Technology—are heavily used by businesses, often with special librarians acting as information brokers for the end users in their corporations.
