Abstract

JAPAN AND BRITAIN have much in common geographically. The two countries even have certain psychological similarities. But here the similarities end and the differences begin—differences which account for Japan's economic strength and awareness of her role while Britain is still defining her position and, economically, cannot compete with the larger industrial powers.
