Abstract

Ireland's traditional farming‐based economy is undergoing a radical transformation as the country seeks to beef up manufacturing industry with a generous package of tax concessions and subsidies for overseas investors. The industrialisation drive is going through a rough time because of global retrenchment. But the country's longer‐term economic prospects look good, and Chris Phillips found few regrets among companies who have set up a base there.
