Abstract

A claim that members of the British Institute of Management support the introduction of the closed shop led to a fierce clash between Dr Maurice Gillibrand, executive secretary of the Association of Management and Professional Staffs and Lord Hewlett of the BIM, in a recent debate on the proposition “Managers should be members of trade unions” at the Manchester Business School.
