Import curbs: Necessary and not so evil

Abstract

The Government's present economic policy is paving the way for tougher import controls, says Stanley Alderson, arguing that Conservative ‘free trade’ thinking is an outmoded principle in a world where import curbs are practised under a variety of other names.
