It's time to abolish the wage packet

Abstract

THE GOVERNMENT's ‘Think Tank’ is recommending that employers abolish the weekly wage packet. This view is rapidly gaining ground in political circles. The Think Tank — the Government's Central Policy Review Staff — was instructed in the summer to look into the matter of how wages were being paid in Britain, and the social and political consequences of the preponderance of wages paid directly in cash.
