Design/methodology/approach – Notes that the executive search is not regulated in the USA although there is Association of Executive Search Consultants that has issued a code of practice. Discusses the types of actions that might be considered unethical and how to ensure that a search company does not act in this way. Also discusses the expectations that human resource managers should have of the service that they are given. Findings – Points out that executive search agencies rely on their reputation to gain new clients and suggests that this may be the strongest constraint on their activities.
