Gives examples to show that homophobia can still be found in UK workplaces. Reviews the work done by Stonewall, a major gay rights organization, which uses its listing of the top 100 gay-friendly organizations as a way of promoting equal opportunities, highlighting a finding in their research that suggests that gay people who have to conceal their sexual orientation at work can be up to 30 percent less productive. Also discusses research from consultancy, Out Now Consulting, and the TUC that confirms the costs for organizations that do not ensure that the workplace is friendly to lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender people. An inset gives Stonewall’s list of the top 20 gay-friendly employers 2010. ISSN: 0959-5848 Reference: 39AG988
