Galpin T., Whittington J.L. and Maellaro R .People & Strategy (USA), 2012, Vol. 35 No. 2, Start page: 42, No. of pages: 7

Presents a framework that can be used to retain key employees during a merger and acquisition. Sets out how to identify employees with the key knowledge and skills that are critical for the new company and develop a retention plan which focuses on re-engaging them with the organization (by managing their perceptions, interactions with managers, involvement, rewards and status). Underlines that achieving this will ensure that employees will offer high levels of in-role and extra-role performance and that this will contribute to the overall performance of the new organization.
