Arriva launches new performance-management process

A new process has been introduced to direct and record the performance of senior managers at UK transport group Arriva. "Working with others" will help them to develop their careers and those of their teams.

The process combines training needs, past performance, future objectives and personal-development plans in a single document.

Mark Saxton, human-resources director, commented: "It was developed by the HR support group based at the company's head office in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, and will eventually be used by more than 250 managers across the Arriva Group, including its businesses in Europe."

To support the process, the group has also launched a new learning-management system, the Arriva Learning Development Gateway, which enables managers to gain access to learning from a dedicated Arriva Website.

Mr Saxon continued: "Both of these new processes are based on a common vision for the business and a consistent application of our brand values. Critically, the process focuses managers, but also gives them the opportunity to acquire learning in the performance of their jobs."
