For readers interested in the sociology of work, this book draws on eight years of participant observation and in‐depth interviews with hotel workers at five luxury resort in Hawaii. The authors set out to profile the culture and lifestyles of hotel workers by describing their work and social patterns together the issues facing immigrant workers, locals and managers as they deliver service to customers in resort operations that never close. This is a well‐written and meticulously researched study that will appeal to those with an interest in Sociology and the related human resource and managerial applications.
