Desktop DNA

Miramar Systems, the leading provider of PC lifecycle management solutions, has released version 4.7 of its award-winning Desktop DNA Enterprise Edition software. Miramar Desktop DNA software is the only solution that currently supports migration to the latest Microsoft Office release, and manages PC DNA – settings, data, and preferences – migration during Windows OS upgrades, hardware refreshes, and system recoveries. Version 4.7 also offers exclusive support for organisations migrating user profiles from Windows NT Server 4.0 Domains into Windows Server 2003 Active Directory in one, unified process.

The new version of Desktop DNA includes a new XML-based manifest log that delivers increased migration control and expedites quality assurance processes. An XML file, the manifest log allows administrators to verify programmatically or manually DNA file contents during quality-assurance checks, prior to reformatting drives and laying down a new operating system. The manifest log also records what was migrated into a DNA file and then applied from the DNA file onto a destination system. It can also be imported into a database for future reference and easy access during IT audits.
