Article Type: News From: International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, Volume 58, Issue 2
The Government of Ontario and the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) have launched a joint initiative to help small and medium-sized companies secure and create jobs by becoming more productive and more competitive.
The Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, backed by a $25-million investment by the provincial government, will be helping small and medium-sized manufacturers increase their competitiveness in the global economy through a new program called SMART which will provide up to 50 per cent of eligible program costs, to a maximum of $50,000 per project, and focuses on three key areas that can help Ontario manufacturers get ahead:
- 1.
lean manufacturing and process improvements;
- 2.
information and communications technology; and
- 3.
energy efficiency.
