Nigeria goes local

Article Type: News From: International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management, Volume 61, Issue 5

The Nigerian government is to introduce a “local patronage” to encourage manufacturers to source their raw materials locally and help create jobs.

“The lack of patronage of products produced locally is one of the reasons for the low capacity utilization and contribution to Gross Domestic Product. We will work with the industries to enhance their productivity, improve the quality of their products and ensure that we significantly reduce the importation of substandard products as we work to achieving zero tolerance in this area.” said Minister of Trade and Investment, Mr Olusegun Aganga.
