2011: a busy year for ecodesign policymakers in Europe

The adoption of ecodesign rules for appliances in Europe is likely to increase significantly in 2011 following a disappointing year with only two new regulations agreed. Environmental groups also expect several initiatives that will influence ecodesign policy. Much-anticipated ecodesign rules for boilers and water heaters are expected to be finalised before the summer. Additional measures for solid fuel burners and local room heaters are also in the pipeline, according to the Coolproducts campaign.
