INSPEC site licence for institutions in the UK

Keywords Licensing, Internet, Professional institutes, United Kingdom

The Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Combined Higher Education Software Team (CHEST) have a National Site Licence agreement for unlimited search access to the INSPEC database for academic and research councils in the UK and the IrishÇRepublic. This started in September 1998 and will continue for five years.

There will be a choice of six service providers: BIDS; DTV (Technical KnowÑledge Centre, Denmark); EDINA via Ovid Technology; FIZ Karlsruhe's STN; OCLC; and in January 1999 this was supplemented by the Institute of Physics Publishing. Each service will offer access to the whole of the INSPEC database via Internet servers. Institutions can join at any time and are committed to subscribing for the remainder of the five-year period of the agreement.

For further information contact the CHEST Web site at: http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/inspec/contents.html.
