The Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA) document delivery services were developed by the British Library for Development Studies (BLDS) at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK.

The library at BIDPA participated in the pilot project and co-ordinated the services. The aim of the project was to assess the need for a document delivery service by developing countries. It was hoped that if the project proved worthwhile, sponsorship could be found to provide a subsidised low cost service. The project proved to be very popular and the services were well used. Unfortunately, all efforts to get sponsorship have failed.

The library at BIDPA has decided to continue the document delivery services as it feels it is a valuable asset, but without sponsorship will have to pass all the costs on to the users.
