Good news for music librarians

Good news for music librarians

Keywords: Music, British Library, Interlending

Obtaining music scores and performance sets has always been difficult although the collection at the BLDSC satisfies many UK ILL librarians' needs. However the BL, with others, is funding a project called CECILIA which will provide the first comprehensive map of all the UK's music resources. This will include:

  • printed music and audio collections;

  • concert programmes;

  • autograph scores;

  • performance sets;

  • archives of jazz and popular music; and

  • collections of musical instruments.

Approaches have been made to over 650 institutions and CECILIA will go online in November 2002.
