Robot reliability

Robot reliability

Whether its welding, painting or materials handling, one of the most common questions asked is "How reliable are robots under extreme working conditions?". The US arm of FANUC Robotics based in Coventry about five years ago supplied a robot which ladles molten material. There has never been a service call in all that time. The robot dips the ladle into the molten metal on the right, traverses to the left where it pours into the die. It is programmed to gradually tip the ladle to maintain a constant flow rate into the mould. Precise control of pouring improves casting quality by filling the mould at the optimum rate.
