Motoman Robotics (UK) Ltd, has introduced a "RobotPro" maintenance software package designed to simplify maintenance of both its ERC and MRC controlled robots (see Plate 3).
Claiming to be the most comprehensive robot maintenance package available, it is a PC-based support tool that helps pinpoint problems and correct them. In addition, it provides useful graphics and instruction for preventive maintenance, thus ensuring optimum robot up-time and minimum repair costs.
Utilising a Windows environment, RobotPro supplies comprehensive maintenance consultation, error code troubleshooting and repair procedures. A graphics user interface (GUI) furnishes step-by-step instructions, drawings, schematics, and other information.

With the MRC version, the current state-of-the-art controller, it is possible to obtain details of over 400 alarm/error code failures, over 600 test/repair procedures, and over 500 symptom descriptions.
The Motoman RobotPro package is tailored to each specific robot model/controller and functions as a collective support information tool that is readily available, easily accessible and portable.
Preventative maintenance procedures include: calibrating home position, lubricating robot axes, inspecting robot and controller, replacing wiring harness and replacing battery in controller. The troubleshooting element facilitates immediate access to wiring diagrams, proper voltages, component location and adjustment methods. And the repair procedures include motor replacement, drive unit replacement, resetting of the encoder, and replacing a servo pack.
Once a problem is identified, RobotPro indicates the steps necessary to correct it. A click of the mouse will make part drawings, diagrams, schematic wiring diagrams, part lists, or photographs accessible. A print option also allows you to print a specific screen.
