US Forum: "New markets-new technology: tackling the upturn"

The US Robotics Industries Association holds its annual forum this year on 5-7 November. Taking place in Florida, the forum has as its theme "New markets-new technology: tackling the upturn". The first day of the event is a User Discovery Day featuring discussions of the economics and justification of automation as well as presentations from the robot users about the lessons learned from applying robots. Speakers at this session include representatives from Pirelli Tire, Boeing Commercial Airplane and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

The main forum starts off with an introduction from Donald A. Vincent, Executive Vice President of the Robotics Industries Association. The presentations that follow feature key manufacturing specialists in North America from a wide range of industries. For example, Jerry Elson, Vice President - Manufacturing at General Motors will talk about the vehicle assembly plant in Oklahoma City. Herbert Spivak, Executive Vice President at New Balance Athletic Shoe will speak on his company's philosophy on robotics. Curtis A Richardson from Boeing Commercial Airplanes will focus on the aerospace industry's need for high accuracy in robot applications.

Mobile robots and medical robots also feature in the forum as will recent developments in safety standards.
