ABB introduces ABB AnyWhere, a software package designed to remotely connect the manufacturer's robot production cell with the local ABB Customer Support Desk – thereby streamlining the way that robot problems are diagnosed and solved.

Developed with the purpose of remotely monitoring robots, PCs and PLCs, ABB AnyWhere offers extensive capabilities to support the analysis of robots and robot-based automation.

The functionality integrated in to the ABB AnyWhere solution is the result of ABB's vast experience in field support of its robots. When combined with a telephone assistance service contract, the ABB AnyWhere package allows operators to quickly restart production in the event of a production stoppage.

Customers' robots are connected through a Gateway Controller to the ABB Technical Support Desk, which allows data reading from the cell. The ABB Technical Support Engineer then has easy access to log files, I/O, robot teach pendant and current program status, and he can quickly assess the current state of the cell. After diagnosis, the ABB Technical Support Engineer guides the operator through the actions to be performed to restart production.

ABB Anywhere functions include robotic maintenance (file manager, back-up restore, back-up management, parameter management, robot I/O display); teach pendant real time display for each connected robot; direct “main processor” access; integrated process system access; PC file manager and remote access; BaseWare installation; operator communication – chat or voice (optional) and PLC management.

The system supports all ABB robots from S4C or S4P controllers, and all major types of PLC; while being easy- to-use, easy-to-install, with fast and reliable diagnostics.

Reduced production downtime, reduced costs for service call-outs, and “right first time” problem resolution are all extra benefits of using ABB AnyWhere (www.abb.com).
