Mobile Robotics Community

http://gorobot.org/

The Mobile Robotics Knowledge Community Portal provides first-responders, end-users, government, industry, manufacturers, developers, academia, and researchers with a place to collaborate and stay up-to-date on information about robotics.

The community is open to anyone who wants to discuss mobile robotics in the Forums, share their knowledge in the robot Wiki, and create and join special interest groups.

In addition to opportunities for collaboration, the website also offers a knowledge base to find business opportunities, product information, and robotics organizations.

The “Stay-Up-To-Date” link provides information on news, upcoming events, and recent activity on the website.

This website is an excellent, comprehensive resource for mobile robotics.

Mobile Robots Inc.

www.mobilerobots.com/

This is the homepage for MobileRobots Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of intelligent mobile bases, autonomous navigation systems, and software for robot developers and programmers.

The website offers detailed information on the company’s products including technical specifications, accessories, software, partnership and developer programs, ordering and pricing details, and a new knowledge base and support site for research and development customers.

The site is very thorough with a wealth of information, but it could improve aesthetically. The different fonts and colours, grouped photos, along with the amount of data on each page make the pages appear rather busy. Also, there are no videos available of the company’s mobile robots.

CLAWAR Association

www.clawar.org/

The CLAWAR Association is a UK non-profit organization that supports the development of mobile robotics and their associated applications.

The website is concise and easy to navigate. It contains information on the association including its mission, purpose, activities, organizational structure, membership, and their annual conference on climbing, and walking robots.

Robotics and Automation Laboratory at the University of Western Australia, Perth

http://robotics.ee.uwa.edu.au/

This is the homepage for the Robotics and Automation Laboratory at the University of Western Australia, Perth. The Lab has been active for over a decade doing research on all types of autonomous mobile robots, including intelligent driving and walking robots, autonomous underwater vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The homepage provides links to the Lab’s five research activities: mobile robots, embedded systems, automotive systems, simulation, and parallel processing. Within each of these research areas are details on the correlating various projects.

The website also contains information on the people that comprise the Lab, the courses offered, and published works.
