New system aims to help trainers produce training manuals quickly

Write First Time® aims to help trainers to write training manuals quickly, easily and cost effectively. It is designed for use wherever manuals need to be standardized, repeated and updated.
Developed by Information Transfer, the Cambridge-based training and communication consultancy, the system comprises two key elements: the Generator (a Word-based tool that controls the structure and format of the manual) and a complete training course on writing and producing training manuals, which trainers can run in house. Full course notes with PowerPoint slides are provided for the trainer and there is a comprehensive handbook for trainees. If organizations prefer a Write First Time® trainer to run the course for them, Information Transfer can also meet this need.
The Generator contains the "skeleton" for the manual and automates many of Word's more complex and time-consuming features. Users can add a host of pre-formatted elements, from headings, tables and bullet lists to complete sections with subheadings already in place, from its integral Write First Time® toolbar.
Standard Generators are already available for self-instruction manuals, presentation guides, assessments and operator manuals. Other types are under development. If organizations prefer, Information Transfer can program a customized Generator that produces documentation to their own specifications.
The system is compatible with Word versions 6 and 7 (Word 95). A Word 97 version will be available shortly.
