Stop Press is an interactive CD-ROM which aims to put students and learners of German into the role of journalists in a newsroom and provides them with a wealth of information to be used for writing articles on a wide range of topics. It is linked to a homepage which offers even more up-to-date information (http:// www.britcoun.de/stop/start.htm). It was produced by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the German Foreign Ministry, the British Council and the Goethe-Institut and forms part of a series of British-German joint projects.
Stop Press is available from the Goethe-Institut and the German Information Centre. Further information and material on issues relating to contemporary Germany (such as politics, economics, social affairs, culture and the environment) are available from the German Information Centre, which can also arrange seminars for students on topics relating to Germany.
