Teaching in China

Keywords: National cultures, China, United Kingdom

A chance to learn some Chinese, experience a very different culture and make new friends - these are just some of the benefits of the China Teaching Programme which is now in its second year.

The overall purpose of the initiative is to allow Chinese students to enjoy the benefits of working with native English speakers and in return provide successful UK candidates with an opportunity to develop an understanding and appreciation of a fascinating and rapidly changing country.

In 1998/99, with this aim in mind, the Central Bureau for Educational Visits and Exchanges successfully placed 40 UK graduates in colleges and universities across China. The Central Bureau would like to build upon this number for 1999/2000, and would be interested to hear from graduates, and mainstream and retired teachers.
