Training solutions provider, Melrose, has launched Fish!, a video-based programme which shows companies how to become more effective by adopting positive attitudes and having more fun at work.

Set in Seattle's famous Pike Place Fish Market, the video shows how this traditionally dull, unexciting environment has been transformed into a vibrant workplace, and how its employees have benefited from this new approach. The film demonstrates how the transformation took place at the fish market, and how these ideas can change any organization. Fish! aims to help companies improve the energy and morale of their staff, stimulate creativity, innovation and teamwork, and help everyone become more responsible for decision making, without taking themselves too seriously.

The programme's video shows organizations how to achieve these goals using four steps:

  1. 1.

Play: this is about fun and how workers can be creative and spontaneous. It also covers motivation, productivity and co-operation.

  2. 2.

Make their day: looks at the ways in which organizations can make their customers' day, and encourage their employees to enjoy work and feel good about what they are doing.

  3. 3.

Be there: getting involved and taking a real interest in work, showing how this has major benefits for the individual, as well as everyone in the organization.

  4. 4.

Choose your attitude- at the very heart of the Fish! philosophy, this encourages everyone to choose a positive attitude and make a contribution, rather than being negative and opting out.

The Fish! programme includes a detailed Facilitator's Guide and a workbook (called a Playbook) for course participants. It costs £695.00 to buy, but is also available for rental from Melrose at £180 for two days. For further information, please contact Doug Miller at Melrose.
