Warwick links with motor manufacturer
The Warwick Manufacturing Group, at the University of Warwick, has signed a multimillion-pound link with the Ford-owned Premier Automotive Group, which will see the two collaborate on research, training and the supply chain.
The collaboration will be international, with the participation of companies from other European countries, in addition to the two sets of researchers.
Nick Matthews, Warwick Manufacturing Group spokesman, said: "The group was set up 21 years ago, because a report at the time indicated that engineers leaving universities were as useful as ashtrays on motor bikes, because they needed so much retraining when they entered the private sector. What we are trying to do is join the business sense of the Premier Automotive Group with the skills of the engineers."
The Premier Automotive Group specialises in prestige marques such as Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover.
