Universities co-operate on IT training in Belgium
Universities co-operate on IT training in Belgium
Three Belgian universities are co-operating to create a more IT-friendly climate in the country.
The universities of Louvain-La-Neuve, Brussels and Namur are seeking to promote the use of modern IT in Belgium, help companies to develop IT products and services and promote the creation of new companies.
Roland Husson, spokesman for the universities, commented: "There is an IT skills and manpower shortage in Belgium. Universities can provide some, but not all, of the teachers and trainers who can develop the courses needed … If we mix up different categories of people with different backgrounds and degrees of motivation, and put them all through the same mill, the results will be bad."
He said that large-scale investment was needed to prepare training and keep pace with the fast-changing technology.
