LDV opens education centre
Specialist van-maker LDV has opened a £100,000 education centre at its Washwood Heath factory in the English West Midlands.
The joint venture, which also involves the Careers and Education Business Partnership, aims to bring the world of manufacturing to the workforce of the future.
Allan Amey, LDV chief executive, said: "We have a strong track record of training and nurturing some of the best automotive engineers in the business. The aim of the centre is to encourage more young people of the right calibre to enter manufacturing."
The centre provides young people with the chance to work on their own projects, using real working machines and automation. The centre is also open to people aged over 18 who wish to study online courses.
