A third of European workers have experienced e-learning

A third of European workers have experienced e-learning

A third of workers in Europe have experienced some form of electronic learning, according to research by the European School of Management.

The survey found that almost half of people aged 20-29, and more than 30 per cent of those aged 30-39, had experience of an e-learning programme. Only 21 per cent of those aged 40-49 had exposure to e-learning – a figure below the 22 per cent for the 50-59 age group.

E-learning came fifth in the list of respondents' most frequently used methods of learning, after asking questions, attending conferences and formal training courses, The most popular method of learning was the formal training course, closely followed by "asking colleagues."

The subjects most commonly delivered through e-learning were "technical subjects" (27.8 per cent), information technology (26.4 per cent) and language learning (22.2 per cent).

The research was sponsored by training specialist John Matchett Ltd.
