Jim Stewart is Professor of HRD at Nottingham Business School. He established one of the fist Masters degrees in HRD in the UK at the School and for the last five years has been Joint Course Leader of it's Doctorate in Business Administration programme. An active researcher and writer, he is the author or editor/co-editor of nine books including three titles in the Routledge Studies in HRD Series, as well as numerous research reports, journal articles and conference papers. He holds three national appointed positions with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and is the elected Chair of the University Forum for HRD. Before becoming an academic, Jim had a career in management and HRD in retail and in the public sector.
Vanessa Knowles is a Senior Lecturer in HRM at Nottingham Business School, where she works in The Centre for Management Development. She is involved with a range of in-company undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and her activities include design, development and delivery of both award and non-award bearing programmes. She is currently Programme Director of the BA (Hons) Business Management degree which has provided her research focus in the areas of graduate recruitment and selection and mentoring in undergraduate degrees.
