Greetings from sunny and beautiful Sarasota, Florida!

Welcome to the third issue of the first volume! This issue concludes the first volume of Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology (JHTT). I would like to thank the authors for their submissions and reviewers for their hard work to make sure that quality papers are published in JHTT. Second volume of JHTT will continue to publish high-quality papers in the field of hospitality and tourism technology. In addition, it will feature one special issue on mobile and self-service technologies. The future plans of JHTT include a workshop/conference to bring researchers together. Please continue to support JHTT by sending a manuscript, being a reviewer, or cite papers that are published in JHTT.

In this third issue of JHTT, we present you four papers and one interview with the Editor of JHTT about the future goals of JHTT. The first paper is, “Merging task-technology fit and technology acceptance models to assess guest empowerment technology usage in hotels” by Thomas Schrier, Mehmet Erdem and Pearl Brewer. The second paper, by Katerina Berezina, is examining a very hot area in the information technology field: “Top issues in PCI DSS compliance in hotels: an exploratory study.” The third paper is, “Harness the power of viral marketing in hotel industry: a network discount strategy” by Lina Xiong and Clark Hu. The fourth paper is, “Embracing broadscale applications of biometric technologies in hospitality and tourism: is the business ready?” by Juline E. Mills, Matthew Meyers and Sookeun Byun.

With this issue of JHTT, the home academic institution of JHTT moves from University of Delaware to University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. I would like to thank University of Delaware’s Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management for their support in the birth and development of JHTT. I would also like to thank Zoe Sanders, my publisher, for her support and patience.

I invite you to be involved with JHTT. Please send me your comments to improve the overall quality of JHTT. If you want to edit a special issue, please contact me.

Thank you for your support and readership.
