Special Gerald Brown Memorial Issue

Special Gerald Brown Memorial Issue

The Journal now announces a call for papers for a special issue in memory of Gerald Brown. Gerald was Joint Editor of the Journal of Property Investment & Finance from 1999 and prior to that he was the Editor of Journal of Property Finance. Gerald passed away earlier this summer following a brave battle against cancer. Gerald was not only an excellent academic and colleague, he was also a good friend to many of us in the academic and professional community. In his memory, we will be publishing a special issue of the Journal concentrating in particular on areas of research that were close to Gerald's heart; this will principally be investment and finance papers.

We will be happy to consider papers in any of the following suggested areas:

  • property investment and property finance;

  • diversification and risk;

  • financing and funding of real estate;

  • rental and capital value determinants;

  • property in the context of other assets;

  • modelling real estate markets;

  • the performance of real estate markets;

  • portfolio construction and analysis;

  • forecasting;

  • performance measurement decisions;

  • international investment in real estate;

  • decision-making in real estate

This list is not exhaustive and interested authors are encouraged to contact the editor with alternative proposals. Papers should however have a strong focus on issues that directly or indirectly affect the role of property as an investment and should be supported, wherever possible, by relevant empirical research. Articles must be analytic and rigorous, not merely descriptive. All papers submitted will be subject to anonymous review by the editorial board and external referees.

Articles should be typed with wide margins and double spacing on A4/letter paper with a separate covering top page detailing the title and author. Reference to the author/s should not be included at any other point within the manuscript. Please include an abstract of approximately 150 words, four to five keywords and a suggested title of not more than eight words. Please submit three paper copies of the paper and a disk copy (ideally) in Word or WordPerfect.

The closing date for submissions is: 30 November 2002.
