Presents a case study, based on TVS Partnership Pty, Ltd (TVS), the first small business to be awarded the prestigious Australian Quality Award in 1993, Traces the successful work conducted by this architectural and landscaping firm to improve its quality, despite adverse industry trends. Shows how the firm has grown and diversified into new areas (hotel management, property development) and discusses the important role played by the company's innovative approach to building management. Illustrates the company model, on which their strategy is based, noting the key total quality management criteria, based on three areas: self, customers and community. Concludes with a brief consideration of the measurement and control processes developed by TVS to ensure complete and consistent application of their quality strategy.
