Fairchild Semiconductor’s European power seminars provide design solutions to enable energy-efficiency

Article Type: Industry news From: Microelectronics International, Volume 26, Issue 2

Fairchild Semiconductor will begin its 6th-annual European technical seminars in February 2009. These comprehensive 1 day seminars provide power supply design engineers design techniques, product technologies and industry trends to develop energy-efficient applications.

The full-day power seminar technical sessions include:

  • Brushless DC ripple torque reduction via modified sinusoidal PWM.

  • Board level evaluation of power quad flat no-lead packages.

  • Design considerations for asymmetric half-bridge converters.

  • Designing auxiliary power supplies for high-efficiency and low-standby power.

  • From powder to transformer.

  • Understanding interleaved boundary conduction mode power-factor-corrected converters.

  • Using MOSFET selection to minimize losses in low-output-voltage DC-DC converters.

Fairchild’s European power seminars will be held in more than 20 cities across Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Israel and Turkey. A list of these locations, schedules and descriptions of each technical session, as well as registration information is available at: www.fairchildsemi.com/powerseminar/. These power seminars ware also held in North and South America and Asia during 2008.

“Fairchild’s in-depth Power Seminars are presented by energy-efficiency experts in the field of power electronics. These experts will discuss methods to optimize system power with specific analogue, discrete and optoelectronic solutions. Design engineers can expect to learn techniques to improve system performance, comply with energy-efficiency regulations and achieve significant overall system-level cost savings,” said Andrea Mirenda, Fairchild’s Vice President of Marketing. “We’re pleased to again offer these Power Seminars. They are part of our Global Power Resource SM, a network of worldwide power design centres, online design tools and system design experts who partner closely with customers to optimize and innovate designs for electronic applications.”
