Article Type: Editorial From: Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, Volume 32, Issue 1

We are pleased to bring you Vol. 32, No. 1 of the journal. This issue is the first compiled by the new Assistant Editor, Ms Angela Reitler. Ms Reitler is a doctoral student in criminal justice at the University of Cincinnati. She holds both an MS in Criminal Justice and a Juris Doctorate. She replaces Eric Straeter who capably served as Assistant Editor all last year. Eric has since moved on to other activities, and we wish him the best of fortune. Ms Reitler has prior experience editing a law journal and has already begun making improvements to our policies and procedures.

This issue contains ten articles that address a range of important policing topics and represent research on policing across the globe. Many of the papers focus on personnel issues and topics, such as training, isolation, and potential sex discrimination. Others examine topics pertaining to organizational efforts including corruption control, crime control efforts, and organizational change. We believe this issue contains something for everyone and are proud to publish these papers.

In addition to these ten papers, the issue also contains our regular features. Andreas Peilert provides a review of the Encyclopedia of Police Science. J.W. Carter again reviews web-based sources in policing, and Joy Chambers has contributed to Perspectives on policing.

We are excited about the prospects for the journal this year. We continue to strive to present the most recent research and thinking on policing topics and to reflect a global perspective that has characterized the journal for so many years. We encourage anyone with comments or suggestions to feel free to contact us. We also encourage you to volunteer to serve as a manuscript reviewer and, of course, to submit your work for publication consideration in the journal.
