Hüls launches CREANOVA Spezialchemie GmbH
When the Coating Raw Materials and Engineering Plastics Business Units of Hüls AG, Marl, presented their new developments in the field of powder coatings at the Powder Coatings Europe in Amsterdam in January 1998, it was under a new name: CREANOVA Spezialchemie GmbH.
The new name is a direct consequence of the "Global Fitness Program" of Hüls AG. As part of this program, the Hüls Group was transformed into a strategic holding company as of 1 January 1998, under the management of which 12 independent subsidiaries will be operating on the market in future. With this transformation, the chemicals division of VEBA aims to achieve closer proximity to the market as well as greater flexibility also for strategic alliances.
In addition to the existing five subsidiaries MEMC, Phenolchemie, Vestolit, Rohm and Stockhausen, there are already seven new companies. After the polystyrene activities throughout the group had already been amalgamated into the Styrenix Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. KG in October 1997, six further companies were launched at the beginning of 1998. They cover the business fields of speciality chemicals, olefin derivatives, surfactants, silicones and silanes, strategic R&D projects and services.
CREANOVA Spezialchemie GmbH will comprise the Coating Raw Materials, Engineering Plastics and Intermediates (including the DMT business) Business Units and the Colorants Business Unit. It further includes Hüls America Inc., USA, and Hüls Southern Africa (PTY) Ltd, South Africa.
As part of the founding of CREANOVA, the product range of the Coating Raw Materials Business Unit has been expanded to include the products of the former Adhesives Raw Materials Business Unit. In addition, the VESTOWAX hard paraffins and hard waxes, the adhesives raw materials VESTOPLAST, DYNACOLL and DYNAPOL as well as the DILAVEST expansion waxes will be incorporated into the product range.
