Zeneca Resins launches new aqueous dispersions

Keywords Water based, Zeneca Resins

The Architectural and Industrial Paint (AIP) Business Group of Zeneca Resins announces that the following water-borne products are being introduced on the market:

NeoRez R-2001

NeoRez R-2001 is an aliphatic, fatty acid modified, polyurethane dispersion.

This binder has been developed as a water-borne alternative for solvent-based lacquers, such as urethane/alkyd systems.

This system combines analogous wood wetting with very high chemical and abrasion resistances. Characteristic of this system is its Black Heel Mark Resistance, developing in about four days at ambient temperature, without requiring additional crosslinkers. As a result of the oxidative drying, curing occurs in a way analogous to solvent based (urethane) alkyd systems. This is the first type from a new product family within Zeneca Resins.

The application areas for NeoRez R-2001 are a.o. project flooring, such as in public buildings, museums, offices, sport halls, etc.

NeoPac E-125

NeoPac E-125 is an aliphatic self-crosslinking urethane/acrylic copolymer.

This binder has been developed for systems requiring an appearance as neutral as possible on wood types such as maple, oak, and beech. As a result of the self crosslinking, early wear properties are obtained at ambient temperature and normal relative humidity. As an indication could serve: good early wear properties obtained within 24 hours drying at 18-21°C (64-70°F) at 60-70 per cent RH. Furthermore, this binder combines a good chemical resistance with good abrasion resistance. As a result of its relatively low pH, this type is reported to be very suitable for application on oak without bringing about strong yellowing. The absence of NMP causes this system to cure through more quickly with an earlier hardness development.

The application areas for NeoPac E-125 are parquet and furniture lacquers.

NeoRez R-2040

NeoRez R-2040 is an aliphatic, fatty acid modified polyurethane.

This aqueous dispersion constitutes a further development within this product family. This particular type claims a quicker hardness development and less yellowing in clear lacquers.

Moreover, the co-solvent and neutralising agent contents have been reduced. Typical of this system is its Black Heel Mark Resistance, developing in about four days at ambient temperature without requiring additional crosslinkers. This system combines analogous wood wetting with very high chemical and abrasion resistances.

Application areas for NeoRez R-2040 are parquet and furniture lacquers.
