Panduit has developed a new form of grommet edging that it believes provides a significant reduction in installation time by eliminating the messy process of applying adhesives separately by hand.

The adhesive lined grommet edging is fixed in place using a dry, pressure-sensitive adhesive which is co-extruded into the trough of the product during manufacture (Plate 10). No preparation is needed ­ there is not even a liner to remove prior to installation.The only requirement for a perfect installation is a clean, dry surface.

Since the adhesive requires only thumb pressure, the product can be positioned, removed and repositioned repeatedly without leaving any residue and without any deterioration in adhesion performance. As well as speeding up the installation process, the new grommet edging gives a much more aesthetic finish, and product performance is also improved.

Designed to protect wires and cables from abrasion and other damage where they pass over panel edges, Panduit's adhesive lined grommet edging is available in three sizes covering panel thickness of 0.9-1.6mm, 1.6-2.5mm and 2.5-3.7mm.

It is manufactured in a choice of natural or black polyethylene, and it can be specified as solid-wall style for use on straight edges or slotted-wall style, which is the ideal solution for curves, holes and outside-radius applications.

With a shelf life of three years to avoid possible performance reduction issues, the grommet edging is supplied in 30.5m rolls, which are date-stamped to help with stock rotation.
