Manual sample dispersion system

Keywords Malvern Instruments, Sampling

Malvern Instruments informs us that a new manually operated sample dispersion unit for the Mastersizer S, extends the range of sample handling options available for this widely used laser diffraction based particle size analyzer.

The QS-M (Plate 2) is said to be designed specifically for the manual preparation of wet samples. Two versions are available. One has a built-in ultrasonic probe with variable output and timer to ensure uniform sample dispersion. The other cost-effective alternative is intended for materials that do not require ultrasonication.

The QS-M uses a 1,000ml beaker as a sample tank. This is thought to be especially useful in areas without ready access to a water supply, and the relatively low cost of this standard laboratory item means that it can be easily replaced in the event of soiling or contamination.

Manual control is via an illuminated diaphragm touch panel designed for use under a wide variety of operating conditions.

The QS-M has been designed and produced within Malvern's QSpec validation programme and is therefore said to be suitable for use in all areas, including highly regulated environments.
