Atofina, said to be the world's fifth largest chemical company, and the chemical branch of the oil group TotalFinaElf, has recently adopted its own visual identity.
The logo (Plate 13) is considered to symbolise the various components of the new company. The emblem has been adapted from the FINA red shield, now blue, with, in its centre, the delta of the former Elf Atochem logo. The font is taken from the typeface of the TotalFinaElf logo and includes the delta of the former Elf Atochem logo as first and last letters.

Created in April 2000 from the merger of the chemical, petrochemical and oleochemical activities of TotalFina and Elf Aquitaine, Atofina represents pro forma sales of E17.4 billion in 1999.
With 70,000 personnel around the world, Atofina is said to rank among leaders both in Europe and in the world in each of its activities: petrochemicals and plastics, intermediates and performance products, and specialities.
