Wireworkers right across Europe – including those engaged in the production of refrigerator shelving – are said to have been enjoying the benefits of a Plascoat coatings material that now also offers extended performance bonuses following a formulation upgrade.

Plascoat's NG30 low density polyethylene powder claims enhanced fluidisation following improved particle size distribution and the inclusion of additives and has reportedly won over OEMs, custom coaters and wire fabricators in countries as diverse as Spain and Hungary, Poland and Italy.

Major savings are now claimed to be available, particularly in terms of energy consumption. Typical coating temperatures can reportedly be cut by between 50 and 100°C.

Plascoat informs us that it worked closely with the white goods industry in developing NG30, which claims further savings through reduced application density and coating thickness; higher output rates; and no requirement for a primer. The claimed total elimination of extracted plasticiser fumes and the need for compliance with associated environmental and fire directives is believed to be another key benefit. The formulation is also said to have free flowing properties that allow good edge coverage.

NG30 has been developed for a wide range of domestic wirework equipment applications and is available in a non-yellowing white, with colour options where larger quantities are required. The coating is part of an NG range that also includes the NG10 and NG20 – giving applicators the opportunity to select specific qualities, such as an enhanced level of abrasion, stress cracking and impact resistance, and a finish appropriate to the product and budget.
