The head of a Hertfordshire firm of specialist coaters is drawing together his professional skills and his spare time caravanning interests to provide the leisure industry with an attractive alternative to the ugly degradation of some external polyester finishes.
George Cooney of G & L Coatings has been running trials of Plascoat's versatile PPA571 thermoplastic coating material at the company's UK plant in Hitchin, on a range of external equipment installed by the leisure industry.
PPA571 is claimed to be the most durable, factory-applied coating available for harsh or polluted environments, offering excellent resistance to s and, sun, salt, accidental and vandal inflicted damage.
The results of the trials have inspired the company to launch a service aimed specifically at a market where a long adhering coating able to withstand such factors is vital. "Our work has aroused a lot of interest and we are on the verge of landing a number of significant early orders from leisure industry manufacturers," explains Mr Cooney.
Successful trials have been concluded on the coating of bollards providing marina-side power supplies for visiting boats, as well as services and lighting units for caravan parks.
