A full suite of colour formulation and control solutions was shown by GretagMacbeth, at the recent Surfex exhibition. Visitors responsible for design and specification through to final assembly within the coatings supply chain were able to see and experience this leading edge technology.
Products on show included ColorEye 218OUV spectrophotometer for measuring the effects of optical brighteners; ColorEye XTH handheld spectrophotometer for measuring challenging sizes, shapes and surfaces; New SpectraLight Jr. portable desktop colour viewing booth with the daylight simulation; The newest version of ProPalette Paint colour formulation and QC software and Spectrolino 8 mm for measuring monitors and spot colours.
GretagMacbeth announced earlier this year a new portable version of their SpectraLight III colour evaluation solution – SpectraLight Jr. This is said to be the first desktop viewing booth to offer accurate daylight simulation while giving a full range of colour evaluation environments through four selectable lighting options plus UV. SpectraLight Jr. is less than half the size, weight and cost, but still claims to provide most of the features and capabilities of the SpectraLight III viewing booth. It is said to be an effective tool in any industry requiring critical colour evaluation on a daily basis.
Another GretagMacbeth software product exhibited was the newest version of ProPalette Paint VS. 1, a Windows-based comprehensive colour formulation and QC package for the paint industry. ProPalette Paint is described as a complete formulation package available to handle transparent, translucent and opaque materials. Included in the package is Optiview quality control software. Now, complete with a new, easier-to-use interface, only three to seven samples are said to be required to build a database.
