The Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology is pleased to announce the publication of Color and Appearance, second edition.
This 94-page book, authored by Percy E. Pierce, formerly of PPG Industries, and Robert T. Marcus, of Datacolor, Inc., reflects the substantial progress that has been made in the area of color and appearance since publication of the first edition in 1994. With extensive use of full color graphics, the book also updates the format and design of the former FSCT Series on Coatings Technology monographs.
In addition to offering expanded discussions on "Communicating Color" and "Color Differences and Tolerances", the soft cover publication covers new developments in color software and color measuring instrumentation. The globalization of the world economy is reflected in the international reach of the major color equipment vendors and the multilingual capability of color software and hardware offerings.
Color and Appearance also covers the advances in personal computer capabilities that have made tasks such as complex color computations, storage and retrieval of color data, colorant inventory and color formula management, etc. within the reach of all organizations. Coverage of metamerism, hiding power, and colorant calibration has been expanded. In addition to an updated bibliography, the book features a glossary of commonly used color terms.
