All-acrylic exterior house paints called equal to the task of meeting market challenges
Exterior house paints based on all- acrylic emulsions have withstood challenges to their position as the premier architectural finishes in the North American market, and continue to provide a superior balance of performance characteristics. That is the assertion of Rohm and Haas Co.'s J.R. Johnson, William H. Hill and John G. Stauffer, who in the September PCI make the case that paints based on all- acrylic emulsions deliver top-level performance in exterior applications – both the more traditional wood substrates and the increasingly popular non-wood housing materials such as masonry, stucco, brick, and metal.
Johnson, Hill and Stauffer review performance comparisons of acrylic and non-acrylic coatings systems in “Acrylic Latex Paints: Still the Gold Standard for Exterior Performance”.
