Flood Co. announces opening of Earl F. Flood R&D Center

The Flood Co. announced the formal dedication of the company's newly expanded and renovated Research and Development Center, named in honor of former Chairman and CEO Earl F. Flood. A dedication ceremony and open house were held 11 November for Flood employees and invited guests.

The company, based in Hudson, OH, said it invested more than $200,000 in renovating the R&D facility. The original building, which was part of a 250 acre, family-owned farm dating back to 1828, has been expanded on several occasions. The latest renovations to the 6,500sq.-ft facility began in the spring of 2004 and include a new laboratory, new HVAC system for the facility's four laboratories, a new temperature and humidity chamber for environmental testing, and aesthetic upgrades such as new carpet and tile throughout the building.

Peter Flood, chairman and CEO, called the expanded and remodeled R&D center “a milestone achievement” for the company. “One of the company's key strategic initiatives is a commitment to continue investing and focusing R&D efforts today and into the future,” Flood said. “In addition to the substantial improvements to the R&D building, we've also increased our research and development staff by more than 50% in 2004”.

The Flood Co., founded 1841, is a producer of specialty coatings and paint additives for consumer, commercial and industrial applications. The company's brands and products include CWF-UV, Penetrol, Floetrol, E-B Emulsa-Bond, Dekswood, FloodPro Solid Color Finish, and others. The company said its products are sold in more than 25,000 retail outlets throughout the world.
